Helicopter transfers to Lake Como: routes, costs, what's actually involved

Milan to Bellagio in 18 minutes — helipads, weather rules, and the paperwork most people don't know about.

5 min read

A helicopter from Milan to Lake Como removes the 90–120-minute road drive and replaces it with a 15–20 minute flight over the city, the Brianza and the lower lake. It is the single most useful upgrade for a short trip.

Routes and times Milan Linate → Como (Idroscalo) — 12 minutes. Milan Linate → Bellagio (helipad at Villa Serbelloni or Grand Hotel Tremezzo, by request) — 18 minutes. Milan Malpensa → Como — 15 minutes. St. Moritz → Bellagio — 35 minutes (the alpine crossing, weather permitting).

Helipads Public helipads on Lake Como include Como (Idroscalo) and Argegno. Several hotels — Villa d'Este, Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Mandarin Oriental Lago di Como — accept private helicopter landings with prior authorization. Bellagio itself has no permanent helipad; landings use a temporary platform at the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni's lawn, approved case by case.

Costs Indicative one-way pricing in 2026: €2,400–€3,200 for a 4-seat AS350 / EC130, €4,500–€5,800 for a 6-seat Agusta AW109. Round-trip is roughly 1.8x one-way, not 2x, because positioning is shared.

What to plan for Flights need a 24-hour booking window for VFR daylight slots, longer for special helipad approvals. Weather rules are strict: low cloud over the lower lake cancels flights even when ground conditions look fine. We always have a chauffeured Mercedes ready as a [backup transfer](/atlas/private-transfer-milan-lake-como) in case the flight is grounded.

Tell our concierge your origin airport, the hotel or villa, and group size — we shape the entire arrival, including baggage forwarding by ground while you fly.

Frequently asked

Can a helicopter land at any villa on Lake Como?+
No. Each helipad requires civil aviation authorization. Most private villas are not certified; the helicopter lands at a nearby approved pad and a car covers the final stretch.
How much luggage can I bring on a private helicopter?+
Roughly 10–15 kg per passenger, soft bags only. Larger luggage travels by ground transfer — our chauffeurs forward it directly to the hotel.
What happens if weather grounds the flight?+
We rebook the next viable slot or switch to a chauffeured Mercedes V-Class transfer with the same arrival commitment. No double-charge.
