When BGY beats Malpensa If your destination is east — Franciacorta, Lake Iseo, Lake Garda, Verona, the Dolomites — Bergamo saves 45 to 90 minutes over Malpensa. If your destination is Milan itself or Lake Como's western shore, Malpensa or Linate is faster.
Arrivals practicalities BGY is a single compact terminal, mostly low-cost traffic, and the arrivals hall gets dense at peak slots. Città Alta as a stop If you are heading to Milan and have three spare hours, ask the chauffeur to stop in Bergamo's upper town. It is 15 minutes from the terminal, walled, medieval, and almost entirely unvisited by people connecting through the airport below it.
