Milan Design Week (mid-April) is the single most alive week in the city. The official Salone del Mobile fair runs at the Rho fairground; the city-wide Fuorisalone takes over every district from Brera to Tortona.
What's actually at the Rho fair 20+ pavilions of furniture brands (B&B Italia, Cassina, Poltrona Frau, Edra, Minotti, Molteni). Industry-focused. €40 day ticket. Two days are enough for a serious visitor. We arrange chauffeur transfer Milan-Rho (35 min outside fair traffic, 60 min in).
The Fuorisalone districts **Brera Design District** — the most polished, brands taking over courtyards (Hermès, Loewe, Loro Piana Interiors). **Tortona / Zona Tortona** — younger, more experimental, brands and emerging designers in disused industrial space. **5VIE / 5 Vie** — historic centre, Baroque palaces opening as exhibitions. **Isola** — emerging designers, smaller installations. **Università degli Studi** — academic-led, large-scale curatorial.
What to actually do **Day 1**: Rho fair, half a day, the brands you collect from. **Day 2 morning**: Brera district walking circuit, courtyards and palazzi. **Day 2 afternoon**: Tortona for the experimental edge. **Day 3 morning**: 5VIE for the historic context.
