Milan Fashion Week happens twice a year — February (Fall/Winter womenswear), June (Spring/Summer menswear), September (Spring/Summer womenswear), January (Fall/Winter menswear). The city's hotels triple in price and bookings vanish three months out.
What's actually accessible to non-press **Runway shows** — invitation-only for accredited press, buyers and VIP clients. Some maisons (smaller brands, brand revivals) issue limited guest tickets through PR — our concierge has working relationships with several.
Showroom appointments — almost every maison runs a private showroom during MFW week. Existing clients (or clients introduced through a personal shopper) can request a private viewing of the collection one or two days after the runway. This is the realistic entry point.
Parties — the major brand parties (Versace, Dolce, Cavalli) are PR-list only. The fringe parties (Vogue Italia, design publications, fashion-adjacent industries) are negotiable. Tell us who you want to be in the room with.
Where to stay during MFW Bulgari Hotel, Mandarin Oriental Milan, Four Seasons (Via Gesù) and Armani Hotel sell out first. Book 3+ months ahead. The Portrait Milano, opened 2023, is the newest serious entry.
What to wear Black, structured, expensive. Avoid logos unless they are the brand of the show you are attending. Heels under 9 cm — most shows involve standing on stone for an hour.
Combine with [Quadrilatero shopping](/atlas/quadrilatero-della-moda-guide) the afternoon before, [a Michelin dinner](/atlas/milan-michelin-stars), and a [chauffeured Mercedes](/atlas/private-transfer-milan-lake-como) between venues — distances inside MFW are short but parking is impossible.
