Helicopter tour of Lake Como: routes, prices and what you actually see

The two classic Lake Como flight lines, the lakeside lunch landings, and real from-prices per aircraft — not per person.

7 min read

A helicopter changes Lake Como from a place you drive around into a shape you can read. The lake is a Y: two long southern branches joined at Bellagio, with the Alps closing the top. From 1,500 feet you see the whole geometry — and every villa garden that is invisible from the road.

Flights depart from the Milan area heliport. Aircraft are single- or twin-engine turbine helicopters, up to 5 or 6 passengers depending on type — see the fleet page for the exact aircraft.

Route one — the first basin Cernobbio, Villa d'Este, Villa Erba, the Volta lighthouse at Brunate, up to Laglio and back. Roughly 30 minutes airborne. From **€1,100** per aircraft, VAT excluded.

This is the shortest route that still delivers the postcard: Villa d'Este from directly above, the Comacina channel, and the cliff villas of Laglio.

Route two — both branches Over the first basin to Bellagio, then home down the Lecco branch on the eastern side. Roughly 50 minutes airborne. From **€1,560** per aircraft.

This is the route to choose if you want Bellagio and Villa del Balbianello in the same flight, plus the wilder, less-photographed Lecco arm.

Landing for lunch The lake tours can include a landing at a restaurant with its own field, lunch, and the flight home in the afternoon:

- Menaggio — Crotto Buba: from €1,750 - Barni — La Madonnina di Barni: from €1,750 - Mantello — La Fiorida agriturismo: from €2,220

Landing fees are included in these rates. Food and wine are settled at the restaurant.

Two lakes in one flight Como to Comacina Island, back down the Lecco branch, over the three Brianza lakes — Annone, Pusiano, Montorfano — then west to Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands. From **€3,000** per aircraft, with an optional lunch stop at Verbania at no additional flight cost.

Practical notes Prices are per aircraft, VAT excluded, and include flight time and landing taxes. Weather is the only real constraint: low cloud on the Alpine wall or strong *breva* wind can move a flight by a few hours, and we re-plan rather than cancel wherever possible. Ground transfers to the heliport are arranged with our [Mercedes fleet](/atlas/mercedes-fleet-explained).

Frequently asked

Is the helicopter price per person or per aircraft?+
Per aircraft. A Lake Como first-basin tour from €1,100 covers the whole helicopter — up to 5 or 6 passengers depending on the type — not one seat.
How long is a Lake Como helicopter tour?+
The first-basin route is about 30 minutes airborne; the two-branch route about 50 minutes. With a lakeside lunch landing, allow four to five hours door to door.
What happens if the weather is bad?+
Helicopter flights are VFR and depend on visibility and cloud base. We move the departure within the day where possible; if the day is unflyable the flight is rescheduled or refunded according to the operator's terms.
Can we land at our hotel on Lake Como?+
Only where the property has an authorised landing area. Several lake hotels and villas do; otherwise we land at the nearest authorised field and continue by car or boat.
